Agro-Incentive Cheques Distributed to Twenty Farmers
Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Senator the Honourable Clarence Rambharat earlier today distributed Agro- Incentive Grant Cheques to twenty (20) farmers at the MALF Head Office in Chaguanas.
The event which was conducted with strict adherence to COVID-19 Protocols and was facilitated in groups of five in four separate sessions.
In addressing recipients, Minister Rambharat said he was pleased with the response by persons to the initiative which was launched by the Ministry in October 2018, as the grant gives them the opportunity to improve their infrastructural, technological and environmental needs.
Additionally, he said some farmers were now able to make the transition of their products from traditional to one of value-added. To this end, Minister Rambharat iterated, that this was the main reason for the current incentive and urged recipients to use the funds in order to make the required improvements to further develop their business for long term financial viability.

The visits to the various sites will continue after persons receive their cheques, as it is also part of the monitoring process established by the Ministry as a contractual obligation.
Also in attendance at today’s event were the Permanent Secretary (Ag) in the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Ms. Susan Shurland and members of the Agro- Incentive Committee including its Chairman Mr. Fareed Hussain.
