Bachacs are one of the most destructive insect pests of citrus in Trinidad. They damage leaves in mature trees which can reduce yield. Severe infestations can lead to the death of young citrus seedlings.
There are only two species of bachacs in Trinidad: Atta cephalotes and Acromyrmex octospinosus.
Senator the Honourable Clarence Rambharat, Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries paid an official visit to Nestle’s Valsayn Headquarters on Friday November 10, 2017. The Minister met with Head of Market, Patricio Torres and other members of the Nestlé team.
Among the issues discussed were a review of Nestlé’s ongoing investment in the local dairy industry and the company’s partnership with farmers to develop sustainable and profitable milk production on local farms.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries recently donated items towards the relief effort for victims of Hurricane Maria in Dominica.
