The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has delivered a week-long port inspection training course in Trinidad and Tobago in the framework of the European Union funded project, the Third PSMA Global Capacity Development Programme Support Project and Follow up Action to the 33rd FAO Committee on Fisheries and Aquaculture. The training took place between the 3 – 7 October 2022.
An urgent call for CARICOM to support other CARICOM members in creating regional food security was the message put forward by regional leaders at the Agri Investment Forum and Expo today.
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and other CARICOM leaders including Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley and President of Guyana Dr Irfaan Ali emphasised the urgent need for the region to achieve its target of a 25 per cent reduction in food import bills by 2025 in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukraine crisis.
