Minister Ratiram Hails Faith, Unity and Service as Pillars of Strength for Praedial Larceny Squad
Marabella, Trinidad: The Praedial Larceny Squad (PLS) reaffirmed its commitment to courage, faith and national service during its Annual Interfaith Service held on Wednesday 12th November, 2025, at the Municipal Police Academy, Marabella, under the theme “Resilience: Through Faith, We Protect and Persevere.”
The solemn and uplifting ceremony brought together officers of the PLS, the Municipal Police Service and representatives of the nation’s major faiths in an inspiring display of unity and reflection.
Delivering the Feature Address, Senator the Honourable Ravi Ratiram, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, paid tribute to the officers for their dedication and unwavering resolve in protecting the nation’s farmers and safeguarding Trinidad and Tobago’s food systems.
“The work of the Praedial Larceny Squad is far more than enforcement, it is an act of service, integrity and endurance,” Minister Ratiram affirmed. “You stand on the frontlines protecting our farmers and strengthening our agricultural foundation. That mission requires not only discipline and determination, but also faith, in your purpose, in one another, and in the difference you make every single day.”
Drawing inspiration from the Honourable Prime Minister, Minister Ratiram reflected on the deeper message of unity that underpins the nation’s strength.
“As our Prime Minister reminds us,” he said, “in this world there is only one race, the human race, and only one religion, the religion of love. That love is what keeps all of us united as one people and as one nation.”
The Minister emphasised that the interfaith service stands as a living example of the values that bind the Squad together, adding, “This unity across beliefs reminds us that compassion, justice and perseverance are the virtues that strengthen both this team and our nation.”
Ms. Michelle Anne Thomas, Permanent Secretary (Ag.), extended heartfelt appreciation to the officers, highlighting the importance of reflection and resilience in maintaining excellence in service.
“The responsibilities you shoulder are great,” she said. “This gathering allows you to pause, reflect and renew your commitment to service. The Ministry stands firmly beside you as you continue to protect farmers and uphold the values of discipline, professionalism and respect.”
The service featured prayers and blessings from the Christian, Hindu and Muslim faiths, musical interludes by the Praedial Larceny Squad Choir, and the heartfelt recitation of the Police Officer’s Prayer, symbolising courage, compassion and dedication to duty.
This observance not only renews the spiritual strength of the Squad but also underscores its vital role in defending the livelihoods of farmers and reinforcing agricultural resilience throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
