The Honourable Saddam Hosein, Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries

The Honourable Saddam Hosein currently serves as Minister of Land and Legal Affairs and Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. He brings a strong legal background and a dedicated focus on land management reforms aimed at addressing critical issues impacting state lands used for agricultural, residential, commercial, and institutional purposes.
Minister Hosein is responsible for driving the modernisation of land administration within the Ministry, with a particular emphasis on securing tenure for farmers and supporting sustainable land use development. His role reflects the Government’s priority to enhance food security through effective management of agricultural lands.
An Attorney-at-law, Minister Hosein was called to the Bar in 2014 after excelling at the Hugh Wooding Law School, where he graduated on the Principal’s Roll of Honour and received the Justice Wendell Kangaloo Advocacy Award. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the West Indies Cave Hill campus and has demonstrated leadership as President of the Trinidad and Tobago Student Association during his studies.
Minister Hosein’s parliamentary career began as an Opposition Senator in 2017, followed by his election to the House of Representatives in 2020 as the youngest Member of the Twelfth Republican Parliament. He was re-elected as Member for Barataria/San Juan in the 13th Republican Parliament.
With expertise in both civil and criminal law, Minister Hosein is committed to good governance, youth empowerment, and advancing the agricultural sector through sound policy, legislation, and service delivery.
