Minister Hosein, “It will not be business as usual at the ADB”

March 9, 2024:-  Yesterday (Friday 8th March 2024), Senator the Honourable Kazim Hosein, Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, distributed letters of appointment to a freshly installed Board of Directors of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB).

In a departure from tradition, Minister Hosein opted to host the installation ceremony at Circle B Ranches Limited. This decision underscores his commitment to a hands-on engagement, allowing the new Board members to immerse themselves in the intricacies of agricultural operations firsthand.

Established as a statutory body, the ADB is charged with the vital task of nurturing agriculture, commercial fishing, and related industries while also mobilizing funds to propel their growth.

The newly appointed Board members represent a formidable blend of experience and expertise across various sectors. Their diverse backgrounds mirror the government’s dedication to fostering effective governance and strategic leadership within the ADB.

As stewards of the institution’s future, each Board member will play a pivotal role in shaping its trajectory, crafting policies, and spearheading initiatives that uphold principles of sustainability and regional cooperation.

Expressing his confidence in the newly appointed Board, Minister Hosein remarked, “The appointment of the new ADB Board Members marks a significant milestone in our commitment to driving economic growth and development in our region. I am certain that these individuals will inject fresh perspectives and expertise, further amplifying the ADB’s impact on our communities.”

Minister Hosein emphasised the need for prudence and foresight in decision-making, reminding the Board of their fiduciary duty to all stakeholders. “It’s not business as usual at the ADB,” he asserted. “The ADB holds a pivotal role in building capacity within the sector. I urge you to exercise caution and due diligence.”

Minister Hosein set the tone for a dynamic and forward-thinking approach at the ADB that seeks to bolster the agriculture sector’s indispensable contribution to the nation’s economy.
