Youth Apprenticeship Programme in Agriculture (YAPA)
This programme provides youths aged 17-25 with the opportunity to become involved in farming, demonstrating to them that agriculture can be pursued successfully as a business.
Phase I is the awareness stage which involves training and “hands on” experience on farms for eight (8) weeks.
Phase II is a more intensive stage where deserving graduates of Phase I are selected for participation in the programme. This phase involves nine (9) months of classroom and practical field training at the county level. This training encourages the pursuit of agriculture in a business-like manner and the development of young entrepreneurs in agriculture.
The YAPA programme is aimed at persons 17-25 years of age.
