How to obtain service?

Applicants are required to:

1.    Complete the prescribed form available from the Fisheries Division including testimony from a registered fisherman with a valid Fisherman’s Certificate.

2.    Submit form and present a valid form of identification for verification along with two (2) passport sized photographs, one of which must be signed and certified by a Police Officer above the rank of Constable;

Attend an interview at the Fisheries Division following review of the above documentation.

Applicants are required to:

 1.    Provide proof of ownership (e.g. receipt from boat builder or materials bought, probate of Will) to the Fisheries Division;

 2.    Complete and submit the prescribed form available at the Fisheries  Division;

 NB. For safety reasons vessel to be registered should be a minimum of eighteen (18) feet long and fitted with navigational lights.

If the vessel/ engine is being transferred for reasons other than sale, the present owner must submit a letter, Probate of Will etc. to the Director of Fisheries indicating same.

How to obtain service?

Applicants are required to submit a letter to the Director of Fisheries informing of his/ her intention to import fish and fish products.

If the Division recommends that a licence be granted, a letter is submitted to the Ministry of Trade and Industry for issuance of the licence.

Export Licences for live ornamental and food fishes

Applicant is issued an import licence for the desired live ornamental or food fish.

How to obtain service?

Applicants are required to:

·  Collect the prescribed forms from the Trade Licence Unit of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

·  Complete the forms in quadruplicate and   submit for consideration.

·  If the Division approves the import, the applicant is to submit the approved forms to the Ministry of Trade and Industry for issuance of a trade licence.

·  For ornamental species such as goldfish and carp a Minister’s Licence is required and thus written request must be made to the Director of Fisheries for consideration and recommendation for approval where applicable.

 ·  The applicant must inform the Division of his/ her intention to import/export their shipment at least 48 hours before its departure as an officer of the Division must inspect the consignments at the port of entry/departure.

Species must; not be listed as endangered and must meet CITES requirements (where applicable)

· Submit a written request for a permit to the Director of Fisheries.

· Obtain approval from the Minister (Minister’s Licence) for ornamental species such as goldfish, Japanese Higoi and Carp through written request to the Director of Fisheries.

· The applicant must inform the Division of his/ her intention to import/export their shipment at least 48 hrs before its departure as an officer of the Division must inspect the consignments at the port of entry/departure.

Species must not be listed as endangered and must meet CITES requirements (where applicable).

Inspection of swordfish and bigeye tuna for export

Who Qualifies?

How to obtain service?

This activity is undertaken in compliance with management measures of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT).

Applicants are required to:

Submit a Request for Inspection Form to Fisheries Division by fax at least 48 hours before the scheduled offload of fish catch.

If the inspection is scheduled for weekends or public holidays, the Form must be submitted at least 72 hours before the scheduled offload.

After inspection, if a certificate of eligibility for export is approved, the relevant documentation will be issued to the exporter immediately.

If approved, the subsidy will be paid in five annual tranches of $10,000 each. An application must be submitted annually for each of the five tranches.

Applicants are required to:

 1.    Produce a Valid Fisherman’s Certificate and Certificate of Registry for vessel at the respective sales outlet where a proforma invoice can then be provided;

 2.    Submit the pro forma invoice to the Fisheries Division for verification and approval;

If approved, the proforma invoice is then submitted to the company of purchase to obtain the commodity at the discounted price (VAT removed).

If approved the forms are returned to the company which then submits them to the Customs and Excise Division; following verification by the Customs and Excise Division, the forms are returned to the company which then delivers the item(s) to the customer.

Rebate on Gasoline, Diesel and Oil used in fishing vessels

Registered fishing vessel owners are eligible for the following incentives;

·   Gasoline used in fishing vessels - $0.12/litre

·   Diesel fuel used in fishing vessels - $0.10/litre

·   Oil used in fishing vessels - $0.75/litre

Registered Vessel Owners whose vessels and engines are operational and registered with the Fisheries Division

1.    Complete a Fuel Purchase form, Quota Card form (for each engine) and application form (all available at the Fisheries Division);

Subsidy for vehicle to be used in commercial fishing

15% of the purchase price of specified vehicles (obtain details from the Fisheries Division) to a stipulated maximum (depending on the type of vehicle and whether it is foreign used or new)

Who Qualifies?

 Registered vessel owners of a minimum of three (3) registered pirogues or one (1) registered industrial type fishing vessel are eligible

How to obtain service?

After purchase of the vehicle, the applicant is required to:

1.    Complete and submit the prescribed form available from the Fisheries Division

2.    Submit the original bills, certified copy of ownership of the vehicle (Licencing Division) and proof of ownership of fishing vessel(s) to the Fisheries Division;

If approved, the subsidy is paid in five annual tranches.

An application must be submitted annually for each of the five tranche payments.

Applicants must be 18 years or over and involved in commercial aquaculture, meeting the minimum production requirements outlined the Aquaculture Incentives brochure (Fisheries Division).

Site visits and other verifications are necessary.

 2.   Submit a Valid form of identification for verification along with two (2) passport sized photographs attaching copies of the associated documentation (i.e. deeds, lease and recent tax receipts).

Processing of Aquaculture incentive claims

Aquaculturists can claim for incentives on various aspects of their production system, providing they meet the specified requirements.

Who Qualifies?

Applicant must complete and submit an Agricultural Incentive Programme (API) form available at the Division. Once eligibility criteria are satisfied, the relevant supporting documentation must be submitted along with the application form.

Applications are processed and submitted to Head office accounts section for payment.
